Best Computing Experiences
by
We’ll start with my best computing experience that took place in a classroom. It was during my Summer 2026 Software Engineering course that we were assigned the task of designing a Java program simulating various animals and their behaviors in as if they were in a zoo. There were certain restrictions and requirements for the task, such that it had to follow the Strategy Design principles we were taught through lecture. Overall, it was a very creative assignment that helped solidify the material for me, and since we had to make a GUI with buttons and the whole shebang, the end product was actually fun to use.
My favorite computing experience (for now) that happened outside of a classroom was the 2025 AppalHack hackathon where my team and I designed a game and coded it into existence in 24 hours. It was fast paced, grueling, and very fun. It taught me a lot about working together with other coders, designating workflow, and a lot about game design in general. This is one of my favorite projects to boast especially since I believe I did my fair share to make this project come to fruition.
